Many existing programs and opportunities in the Bay Area region support Safe Routes to School practitioners’ work. Click on the regional activities below to learn more about existing programs and different ways that you can get involved.

  • BikeMobile  - Spare the Air Youth sponsors the Bay Area BikeMobile, a mobile bicycle repair clinic, to offer free bike repair services, bike mechanics, and safety education.
  • Family Cycling Workshops - Family biking workshops teach children and their parents to bicycle safely together and encourage families to change their transportation habits to be more sustainable. Get started with the Spare the Air Youth Family Bicycling Handbook or see the links below for local resources and information about family biking workshops sponsored by Spare the Air Youth.
  • High School Engagement Program - Spare the Air Youth provides technical assistance to support high school groups in their work to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from sources related to transportation.
  • Technical Advisory Committee  - TAC members meet quarterly to discuss the ongoing Spare the Air Youth program and to share information and resources with other program providers.
